Press Release
Ian Bruce and Kev Green are musical veterans and have come together from two totally different spheres. Ian from a mostly sitting listening folk audience and Kev from the more raucous rock and fun filled pubs and venues of his local Kent of the eighties.
They woo their audiences using strong vocal harmonies, guitar, ukulele, hand percussion and a strong sense of humour and commitment to music and the job in hand.
Their stage demeanour is not only musically harmonious but there is an obvious strong friendship which instantaneously grabs and includes every audience member.
Their upcoming new repertoire and album includes ten examples of their thoughtful collaborative songwriting. Look out for the imminent release of “Believe Me I’m Lying” which promises to be a colourful and entertaining album. The Kentish Yodel, which is hilarious, will not be included on the recording. They send their insincere apologies.
They found common ground in a few of the covers they include (i.e. Bad Company, Fairport Convention, Neil Young, Tom Paxton and Ralph McTell.) These songs are sprinkled between a huge back catalogue of Ian’s self penned, Robert Burns and traditional material.
“…That’s how a folk night should be….” Stirling Folk Club
“A great folk night is made up of several elements: strong material, good harmonies, sensitive accompaniment and the all important connection with the audience.- Ian Bruce & Kev Green brought it all to their performance at The Irvine Folk Club. A repeat visit is guaranteed.” Stephen Quigg, Irvine Folk Club
“Ian Bruce has been a prominent and well loved part of the folk scene for many years. During lockdown he kept himself going playing Facebook Live gigs. His house mate, Kev Green, was cajoled into joining in. Something new and wonderful was formed. They first played live for “The Wee Folk Club” as soon as we started back. What a great night it was! Their approach is warm and friendly. They’re great at what they do. They are always welcome to play for us despite their cheek!!!” Marion Doig, Wee Folk Club.
“It was one of the best gigs I’ve ever had the pleasure to attend.” George Archibald, Ragged Glory & West Linton Folk Club
