Press Release
DAYS OF RAIN is the long awaited album from No Entry, originally known as The No Entry Band, who were significant influencers on the ‘80s music scene with their self-financed EP Cold and Lonely Lives and their featured songs on the now highly sought after various-artists’ albums: Running in Mazes (Circle in the Square Records) and Journey Without Maps (101 Records). Championed by the late great radio presenter and musicologist Charlie Gillett, their music received UK wide airplay and one of their tracks, F.C. Years, won a coveted spot on the iconic Old Grey Whistle Test Pick of the Year Special. The co-founders, songwriters and main vocalists of the band were Glasgow based sister and brother, Ilona and Kenny. Sadly, Kenny’s untimely death meant he did not live to see the album reach fruition.
Recorded with the production expertise and collaboration of Brian Young at Ca Va Sound Studios, the album represents a culmination of the memorable and catchy pop/rock songs Ilona and Kenny penned over the years including new recordings, remixes and rare previously unissued tracks resulting in an authentic, comprehensive and powerful collection.
Featuring contributions from a range of Scottish music luminaries: Kenny Hyslop (Slik, Zones, Skids, Simple Minds), Billy McIsaacs (Slik, PVC”, Zones, Science) Bobby Paterson (Love and Money, Set the Tone, The Poems) and Fraser Speirs, internationally renowned harmonicist, the album showcases No Entry’s appealing, distinctive style and is a fitting tribute to their lyrical and melodic originality.
