Carry Me Back to My Old Front Door
Jim Borrows (piano and vocals)
with Dave Pegg (bass guitar, mandolin, electric guitar)
and James Wood (backing vocals, guitars, keyboards, percussion)
Guest musician Ric Sanders – electric violin on Seven Days
15 tracks, 7 self-penned by Jim, and 8 covers: 6 Bob Dylan, 1 Neil Young and 1 Sandy Denny.
After a lifetime of playing piano primarily for his own amusement, Jim Borrows realises a long-held ambition with the release of his first album.
With accompaniment from world-class bassist, mandolin player and guitarist Dave Pegg (Fairport Convention 1969 to date, Jethro Tull 1979 to 1995), and experienced multi-instrumentalist and highly talented producer James Wood (“He’s my George Martin!” – Jim), the album is a compilation of 7 of Jim’s own compositions and his arrangements of 8 songs by other artists, including several Bob Dylan-penned numbers.
Jim’s own compositions are highly personal chronicles of a range of his experiences and thoughts on themes including time, life and love; and they reflect his multiple influences, including The Beatles and Bob Dylan. Sleeve notes and lyrics for Jim’s own compositions are contained in the 12-page booklet with the CD.
“A lovely album with some fab song writing from Jim.”
