LPASongs is Laurence Petre Allen, a singer-songwriter originally from Liverpool who has been living in Perth, Western Australia, (the World’s most isolated City) for the past 28 years. He has recently relocated to Aberdeen, Scotland, for the foreseeable future with the intention of returning to Australia at some point. LPA only actively began writing and co-writing songs in the last 5 years. Previously he had played in blues bands in both hemispheres. His musical influences are wide and varied. Often the perspective of the songs, whilst not necessarily auto-biographical, are from the standpoint of blokes of a certain age. Grump Rock∫ could be an apt genre!

“About time…” is LPASongs first solo EP release.  It features 3 songs, with 2 versions of each. 3 are full arrangements and the other 3 are stripped-back, akin to a live solo performance.  LPA’s writing process varies and he has co-written songs with lyrics being provided by several talented individuals.  Whilst none are included on “About time…”, LPA is currently working on recording his catalogue of original and co-written songs. LPA writes and performance-tests all songs as a method of `feeling’if the songs are candidates to be recorded. Sometimes through live performance, songs will grow or change and evolve.  Once any changes (if there are any) slow or stop, the song is primed for recording.

LPASongs has a set up a pro-quality studio in his home in Aberdeen to continue recording and releasing songs. He has been performing as a semi professional since 1982 and has continued performing since recently arriving in Aberdeen.  He hopes to garner interest via the release of “About Time…”∫ from potential management or booking agents.
